State of the Game #1

Updated: 6 days ago

Hello everyone!

First, I want to wish you all a happy New Year and welcome to 2021.

It’s been a challenging time for many of us, with lockdowns and uncertainty still lingering. Rather than dwell on that, I’m choosing to focus on how we use our time—and for me, that means continuing to build and refine The Right Path. Being retired has given me the freedom to stay focused on this project, and for that I’m thankful.

Now—on to the game!

It’s a Story

One of the most common questions I get is:“How is the game coming along?”

That’s actually a harder question to answer than it sounds, because The Right Path is a story-driven game. And before anything else can move forward, the story has to be right.

The good news?

The story is done. 🎉

Well… mostly.

All the major pieces are in place. The arc is complete, the characters are established, and the events unfold where they should. What remains is refinement: filling in smaller gaps, tightening continuity, and making sure the right characters are saying the right things at the right time.

If you’ve ever worked on a jigsaw puzzle, you’ll understand the process. You don’t build it from one corner straight through—you fill in sections, jump around, and slowly everything starts to lock together. Writing this story has been very much the same.

At this point, I’d say the writing is about 95–99% complete. What’s left is polishing, proofreading, and then sending it out to one or two additional readers to make sure everything flows smoothly. When you know a story inside and out, it’s easy to miss small details—fresh eyes help catch those.

How the Characters Look

As the software continues to improve, so do the visuals.

Recent updates have brought noticeable improvements to the way the characters look, especially in areas like skin detail and subtle facial realism. I’ve added new images of the main characters, which you can view [here].

Some of the changes are obvious, while others are more subtle—but all of them move the characters closer to the look and feel I’m aiming for. I also plan to share before-and-after comparisons soon so you can see how far things have come.

That’s all for today. I don’t want to make these posts too long, but I do want to keep you informed.

Going forward, I’ll aim to share smaller updates more regularly, with a new State of the Game post around the beginning of each month to track progress.

One last thing—please feel free to leave a comment or ask questions below. I think the forum is working properly now (fingers crossed!), but let me know if you run into any issues.

Thanks again for reading, and for being part of this journey.

Be blessed,

Sam

🙂
